I just got purchased a CUCV M1009. I am a newbie.

I have a few rust spots not to bad. I have placed an order for POR 15 to prevent any further rusting after repairs are made.

I am looking to place rubber matting in the cab area while also reducing the noise level an heat.

From my research I know this topic has been covered before, but got no clear answer/solution. So I want to bring the topic up again.

I understand LMC sells a rubber mat but it wasn't popular here.
I looked at dynamat, which seems ok, but can I paint durbak bedliner over it?

Since I am new to this so I am asking for advice.

My CUCV has a newly primed and painted interior using CARC paint.

My plans are;

Fix rust spots
Apply POR 15 on the interior of cab, tailgate area, and under carriage.

Here is where I am confused on how to achieve a good liner (like Durabak) and reduce the noise level also.

I also read that an insulation under hood will help with noise. I am unsure what to use to achieve this, and does this really help much?

I am new to CUCVs and dealing with these type of issues. I am trying to learn so please excuse me if ask a question that may be stupid to you.

Thank You for your help and suggestions!

I cut a 4'x6' horse stall mat into four sections to use as floor mats for the front and back seats. It is 3/4 rubber, heavy, and definitely helps with heat and some sound. Cheap too, about $40 at a farm supply. I have the hood liner from LMC but nut installed yet, trying to decide if I want to put Fatmat in first. Was thinking of the Lowe's roofing stick on but then read about the horror of ever trying to remove it if I wanted to! I have a month on you newbie ;-)

I wasn't happy with the LMC rubber mat I put in mine. It wasn't wide enough to fit from side to side and left gaps. I like the idea of the 3/4" horse stall mat mentioned above. I saw those at Tractor Supply and thought about it for the cargo area, but the cab area is a good idea too.

I Herculined my entire floor and then initially used insulation under my rubber mat, which worked out well for sound until I had the top off and got caught in a unscheduled rain storm (**** weathermen). Had to rip it all out so now I just have the rubber mat.

I too used the LMC rubber mat. I also purchased the radiant insulation they sell. And added jute padding on the inside of the firewall. I guess i got lucky. Mine fit pretty well. I laid it out in the sun for a couple of days like the instructions said and that made it more pliable. I made a difference in heat and noise in the cab. It's been 4 years now and im still happy with it.

Thanks for the input. I like the rubber mat idea. This will allow me to remove mats from floor.

I got 2 - 2X4 feet mats from Tractor Supply for $34. I may try this.
