Hello All

I know this may have been covered in an old thread, but if it was, I can not find it.

I have a 1967 Deuce (M109A3 which is like the M35A2)

How do I tell which transfer case I have ?

Are they interchangeable?

Is the 5 ton's different?

I am about to buy a spare and want to make sure I can use it.

Thank you
Rodger

A 1967 deuce should be air shift.
Look at the transfer case, above and to the left of the front wheel drive shaft output flange, and below the speedo drive adapter :
If there is a linkage connected to the transmission, it is sprag. (Do not confuse with the transfer shifter, which is above the short input shaft.)
If there is an air cylinder, held in place with 4 bolts, with air line, it is air shift.
Sprag and air shift are interchangeable.
5 tons are sprag.
