Standard wire sizes

I am interested in stocking some standard wire sizes for working on my truck.

Right now, I need to extend some rear end harnesses. Are there set standard gauge wires that should cover most of my day to day projects within my truck 1999 m1083A1 with 3126 serpentine engine? I do know roughly how to size wires for future projects, but I am asking if there are a few sizes that are standard on these trucks so I can keep a stash on hand for that. It looks to me that most of the lights and hook up wires are close in size. Did the Army choose to use only a couple sizes so they could be fixed easier? If so, what are the the standard sizes? (I am not looking at battery wires....just the white ones that run everywhere.)

Thanks
