still learning "Gen Lights"

My Gen 1 light has been on, and the voltage only coming up when the engine is revved. Had the alt. checked out at a shop that specializes in alternator and starter rebuilding, and all is fine. Turns out the Generator dummy light wires are ground wires, like the water temp dummy light wire, and need to be fed juice, through the dummy light, to work. So, to wire gen 1 you just run power to your gen 1 bulb, and ground it with the gen 1 wire. Gen 2 is wired different, still figuring it out, as it involves 24 volt power into the light and grounding through a solenoid into a 12 volt power source.
