Hello
My m1028 had a problem with starting switch, it turned the key lights came up but nothing !
Then I went to the solenoid relay dismounted and used a screw driver to make contact it started right away.
Did this for easy 2 weeks I was working 10 to 12 hours a day not using the truck much so I just waited to finish the job and focus on the truck.
Today I pack my tools get everything loaded get in the driver seat turn the key and nothing no lights on dashboard I did the screwdriver thing in the solenoid relay but didn’t start it turns but no start like if I’m doing it with switch in off position. Ok I went to buy a new switch remove steering wheel and stuff and changed the switch for a new one.
Turn the key no dashboard lights like if it is the same as old switch !!
I am 600 miles from home in a small town named Healdsburg CA ready to go back I’ll spend the night in a hotel here hopefully someone in this great group know what I can do where to check what to change any help is very much appreciate it !
Thank you guys I know you will help me get back on the road

Ok...you need to put 12 volts to the ip connector...that'll turn on the fuel then jump it like you normally do. You won't have lights etc but it'll run as long as you keep power to the ip. It'll get you home to figure out
You'll be able to put the key to on and turn the wheel.

Did you change the switch or the lock cylinder? The switch is on top of the steering column under the dashboard. The lock cylinder is just the key lock.

I suspect issues with fuses or fusible links.

The ignition switch is down towards the break pedal but mounted to the top of the steering column.

Any experience reading schematics and using a multimeter?

You may want to start by taking a look at each fuse. Pull them out one at a time and look for any that are melted.

If you did not already know, this the link to all of the manuals. TM 9-2320-289-20 is the troubleshooting manual.
