Tac marking question on Marine M37

I recently purchased my first M37 and want to keep it as original as possible. It is a 1963 Marine vehicle. By gently sanding the doors, I was able to uncover its original tac markings. It is a baby blue square, about 6"x 6" with the numbers 12 stenciled in white, near the center and the letter C beneath them. Anyone know what this all means? Appreciate any help I can get!
