tank pump failure

The pump wasn't working so I pulled it out of the tank and it will run if it is laying on it's side, but once it is tipped up even only a small amount it quits. This is with the pump removed and only the motor running in it's frame. Any ideas how to repair it? My searches have come up that they aren't rebuildable.

Thanks

Nope, not rebuild-able. There are some cheap replacements on egay or you can get one from the manufacturer. I might even have a new stock one available. PM if your interested.
