I have a Vr board from a oo3 I believe that I have no idea if it is good. Would it hurt anything to install it in a working 002 to see if it is any good? I know very little about the electrical side of things.

You could certainly try it.
If needed, I have a test setup that can test them per the TM. If it fails I can troubleshoot and most likely repair it.
Just finished up troubleshooting and repairing 7 of them last week.
Failures I encountered were bad Q3 transistors, some bad Q1 and Q2 transistors, bad diodes and some burned up resistors due to transistor faiures. One had a damaged potentiometer due to a stupid OEM assembly error.
