New guy here, been looking under the search for some answers to all my questions. Must say this is a pretty good forum. My question is I'm rebuilding a TH400 but I want to install a NP 242 (HMMWV version) in the rear. Questions are.....

1. Does the adapter from the 218 still work with the 242?
2. Connections for the speedo seem to be different, how do I fix this?
3. Is there a stock rear drive shaft part number for this set up (Th400/NP242)?
4. Can the stock front driveshaft be used?
5. Anyone recommend Allison Torque Converters for the TH400?
6. Will the stock exhaust still work with the conversion/upgrade?

When I did my 242 conversion the front shaft did not seem to be that much different in length. I do not know why they supplied the new front drive shaft in the "kit" I did get the shafts for the conversion and the tcase from seperate people. The rear DOES need to be switched out tho.
Connections for the speedo should be the same.
Dont know anything about the allison torque converter change (let me know if you do it)
The stock exhaust will not be an issue. The only main change is the tcase sits back furher more then the 218.
If you havent found it yet check out www.humvee.net and g503.com as there are other humvee owners on those sites also.
