Well, stickin with my usuall methods, I read a few post on the matter, swapped out the cheapest part, then the next...and so on. so now i got nice leaf springs, new shocks, axle u joints, seals and wheel bearings...brakes..tierods and steering stabilizer...wow...lots of stuff. still had cab shakein get tossed out the window death wobble. Finally read nearly all related posts. The post about short weak springs should have a gold star by it! My new ones should be here soon, I just added a couple 1" SS washers under the spring over the kingpin tapered bushing for now to see if I was really goin crazy. IT was good to go, tried all the bumpy roads i could find and did'nt get a shake out of it! I am glad I fixed and replaced all them other parts, sooner or later doin them all.:jumpin:

I had an issue similar to yours yesterday while moving out of college. My roommate and I were driving down the road and I felt like my 1028 was walking the backend. I slowed down and it got better. I stopped and looked for whatever could be causing the problem. I then looked under the seat, realized the passenger side was unlatched, latched it and problem solved!rofl

Yes, kingpin springs, as has been posted many times before, are a very likely culprit. But, you got some good parts out of the adventure. Why didn't you really start with the cheapest part? Just curious.

I asked the two auto parts stores to see the parts before i started rippin into it, thats when all the wrong parts started pileing up on the counter. None of them looked like my parts. Finally downloaded the pics from the TM and then got the right parts. Was simple after that, I guess more reading first could mean less work later in my case[thumbzup].

Going though the same thing. First I broke the stock steering, so I upgraded to crossover with a new box, tie rod, frame brace, steering stabilizer. Still had DW, So then I replaced the kingpin springs and bushings. Still had DW, Short while after that I noticed my frame shackle bushings were almost gone, which was letting the axle do its own thing. Did the Diy4x frame shackle hanger upgrade (Same as ORD FUSH) which I think has finally squashed the acceleration death wobble.

Going to try shimming the king pins, I still have death wobble going low speed over pot holes etc.

I have issues with my pitman arm nut coming loose, all brand new hardware with a lock washer too, have to check it about once a month. Going to either stake it, or use red loc tite...or both.

Are you planning to replace just the springs or all the parts? Looks like something else I need to think about replacing...

My kingpin springs and bushing are brand new, if I was running stock tires they would probably do the trick. 42" TSL's weigh a lot more, so the knuckle needs more pre-load. Installed some shims over my kingpin spring today, no more death wobble.

I was going to point out that the 42" bias ply swampers are probably your biggest cause of death wobble, but obviously you already know that.
