Its funny how things work out. I was outside a bit ago fooling around with the wrecker. I took out an extra mechanical oil pressure gauge to try cranking it to see if I get even the slightest amount of oil pressure. Negative results, matter of fact, even with no gauge and cranking it very fast (no plugs/compression) not even a drop of oil emerged from the line. I guess that solidifies it, I'm preparing for a multifuel swap. As I'm fooling around with the truck I start to realize that I've got a bunch of the stuff already here and it really won't be that bad. Probably 3 days, start to finish. I can wait a bit for that. So feeling a little better about my situation, I dug out the DA to do some investigating. I sanded the black off the doors to reveal "Suwanee School Distrct" which I already knew. Then I took the sander to the hood but to my suprise, the yellow was followed by primer then steel. Seems the thing has been stripped. No wonder the paint (probably 25 yrs old) held up so well. Then I decided to have a looksee underneath. The bottom of the crane has blue paint. It looks like Strata blue. Could this have been an Air Force truck? Only time will tell. I'm getting excited about repowering and can't wait to get it running. The cab change will wait and I'lll hack together functional wiring until the cab change happens. WooHoo!
