TM Parts Question

I have downloaded every TM that I believe is pertinent to my deuce but got stumped today. I was printing the sections pertaining to axle seals today and could not find a parts diagram or list that identified the P/N for the front seals. In both 20P and 34P they show the seal part numbers for the rear axle but do not show them for the front. What am I missing?

Look at the TM9-2320-209-20P. I know it's shown there. On the front spindle, there is only an inner seal.

The 209 series TM, is an older series of TM than the 361 series(I didn't find it in the newer 361 series TM either).

TM 9-2320-209-20P page 253 has the image with the parts breakdown. The TM is available in the resources section.

Thanks all but in looking at the front diagram (No. 108) and it seems odd that nothing goes between the inner nut and the bearing. :???:

Are you looking at the right parts list. The parts list AFTER the diagram is for the next assembly. The breakdown for 108 is on the pages before the diagram

The seal for the front axle that keeps the gear oil from venturig into the bearings is #37 consisting of parts 39 and 38 which seals the axle tube to the axle shaft inboard of the knuckle. I believe this was your original question. The seal at the back of the hub is a dirt and moisture seal. The spindle cap seals the outboard end of the outer axle shaft half.

I believe this is what you were asking about originally.

A brief explanation. On the rear axles, an outer seal is required to keep gear oil out. The gear oil migrates down down the axle shaft to the end. Since the front axle has a seal on the inner shaft keeping the gear oil in the housing, no seal is required at the outer end like the rear axle has.
