Bought a Deuce with 2 trailers.
1. A nice M332 ammo trailer. Needs paint, but in great shape.

Can anyone tell me what the cutout in the tailgate is for?

2. An M2540-S pole trailer. REALLY nice with recent OD paint job.

Don't have any use for it. Would trade for stuff for our deuce.

Thanks,

Eric Wendt

I think the hole in the tailgate is for pulling multiple trailers. Wether for hooking or access to the cargo, I don't know!

Your trailer has a pintle hitch and two glad hands (service and emergency air) beneath the tailgate. The hole is in the tailgate so that when you drop it to unload your cargo, it does not slam down on the pintle hitch and glad hands...thereby denting the tailgate. I have heard that they towed several of these trailers at once...hence, the pintle hitch on the rear of the trailer.
