Transmisson HELP no 2 or 3

Will I whent to move my M36 into the shop to put the radiator in it and as I was moving it I found out that 2nd and 3rd grear would not work. 1,4,5 R are all ok the tran I put in this truck about 2or 3 moths back and it was a used one and seemed ok when I looked inside of it. With the radator out I did not test drive it I just back it up beside the shop to wait for a radator so I did not know that I only had a 3 speed :(
Here are some pic of the inside can any one see any thing that mite be wrong???
The other grear work fine and it seems to shift into 2 and 3 put nothing happends NO noises or anything.

The tranny looks normal, as do the shift forks. Try shifting the top cover and make sure the forks are moving. If they are, then move the 2-3 shift drum in the tranny by hand and see if it goes in gear. You can shift the t-case into neutral and turn the tranny output shaft to see if the tranny is going into gear. I would bet on something loose in the tranny top cover, or the fork was not engaged in the shift drum.
DO NOT START THE ENGINE WITH THE TOP COVER OFF!
Gear lube will go everywhere!
Ask me how I know that!

The shift forks are ok and I can put it into grear and still trun the out put shaft but the grears do not trun does this mean that some thing is broken inside of the grears??? Does this happen??? I'm confussed????why do the other grears wrok fine if something is broken??

Isn't 2nd & 3rd controlled by the same fork? I would put it back together carefully and make sure the shift fork is in the right spot. You can turn the shaft by hand to test all the gears before re-installing. I would go with the easy stuff first. Then if that doesn't work, shift the gears by hand with the top off so you can see whats going on.

Well I got the other Transmisson I had out to day and open it up its not good either this one has the teeth on the 4-5 sycor chewd up. But in pulling it a part I think I discoverd whats wrong with the one in the truck. It seems that the 2-3 sycor sleve that is "keyed" to the main shaft is truning on the shaft (not good)on the one in the truck. So the keys are: 1) bad 2) MIA or 3)__________(fill in the blank)

So are parts for the inside of these easy to get/cheap???
And can I pull the main shaft out with the transmisson in the truck??

Why not pull the 1st one apart to make sure the keys are bad/gone and then pul them out of the 2nd with the chewed up syncro, to install in the 1st. I know it would be quicker and easier to get another, but I'm cheap.

You can pull the main shaft without pulling the transmission. I had a problem with 3rd gear in mine, and was able to pull the driveshaft to the transfer case, the rear seal for the mainshaft, and slide the shaft back so I could lift it out. Ended up taking 2 hours to fix, including running for parts.
