Is there a trick to taking down the tire/rim on the M37? I am used to seeing a small notch in my deuce rims that allow me to insert a prybar and lever the locking ring off. I have a couple M37 rims here and there are no notches in the lock ring. ???

Hey Mike

After you break the tire loose with the duckbill hammer or a slide hammer, (I assume the lock ring is split), you can use a narrow spoon/pry bar to press one or the other end of the lock ring down. That will move that end in a little so you can get a second pry between it and the wheel. Then you can start prying it up while standing on the tire to hold it down, and giving the ring some clearance to come out.

The notch for the pry bar is in the locking ring grove. Most of the time you can not see it until you pry apart at the split and then you can put another pry bar into the grove and work it around. You must brake the bead though and hold the tire bead down past the lock ring and get it started to work it around. Old tires can have the bead welded on and are a pain in the ass..
