Turbo exhaust question...

I am wondering other than running the exhaust outside the frame from the wheel well back if there is any other option for running your exhaust when installing a GM turbo? I seem t recall someone mentioning notching the frame to be able to run it inside the frame like the stock NA setup, but a single pipe.
The reason I ask is I would like to add a second fuel tank in the stock location. My old Silvarado, a gasser had dual tanks and I have all of the stuff for doing this except for a new tank, the switch, valver etc. I was going to cut the section of the bed side from a salvage yard find and have my body man work his magic and instal in on the pass side of the truck.

Thanks,
Greg

You will have to get the exhaust inside the frame to run the turbo and fuel tanks on both sides.
The only way to get it inside the frame with the gm manifold is to notch the frame so two pipes can fit. The cross over pipe from the drivers side and the actual exhaust pipe. I do not know anyone that can make both fit without cutting something. Possibly with a body lift you will get the extra clearance.

Only option around this is to use banks manifold which brings the cross over up the front where the fuel pump is. Fuel pump must be removed and replaced with electric. With this manifold only the exhaust pipe has to go between frame and engine and not both pipes.

You dont have to modify the frame, just have a good exhaust shop do it. My exhaust runs inside the frame, it was a pain for them to do, but that is what i paid for. DSCN0598.jpgDSCN0600.jpgDSCN0601.jpgDSCN0602.jpg

No problem. The only negative to mine is that I wish they would have routed so it dumped more out the side, oh well.

Forgot to mention it as well, I think it is 3" pipe the whole way back from the turbo.
