Unidentified m38 a-1 no year...help wanted

My cousin has a "Wilily m38 a-1 with no identiifacation on the jeep to locate the year it was made. Can someone steer us in the right directions, it can be frustrating. thanks in advance! All we have are a serial number : MD 28437.
There is also another plate that says: MD 32996 ( on the motor ).........hopes this help someone.

I have heard these jeeps can be a mix match that uncle sam rebuilt by throwing a lot of parts together. Do a search. I saw a thread last week on this.

MD means the M38A1 series of Jeeps made by Willys. My serial is 51130 and it is a 1953. The A1 started production in late 1952. The engine has been swapped, that is totally expected. Visit the "G503" web site for army jeep addicts.
