Hey guys,

I have an 85 M1009 that was previous in-service by a local police department. I don't know a lot of history, but it appears that they converted it to 12V when they got it. I have tested both alternators and they read the exact same voltage when off (12.05V) and at idle (12.97V). Also looking at the batteries both positive terminals go to the same terminal on the junction box.

That being said, the GEN1 light is on and it's a bit distracting at night. At idle it's dim, but once driving it gets very bright. My voltage guage always reads 13V at idle and 13-15V while driving depending on speed and current draw.

What actually causes the light to go on? I haven't had any negitive issues, but I would like the light to go off.
