using the volt gauge in a 12v system

Can someone tell me how to wire the volt gauge in a 12v system?

do a little searching. I believe the volt meter has a resistor on the back for dropping the voltage down. If you remove it, its 12v....

I know it has been posted a couple times before.

Ok, I found that about the resistor, but how do I hook it up? Currently it is not functioning.
