This weekend is the 2010 Currahee Military Weekend in Toccoa, GA. This is where such men were trained as those in Band of Brothters and Saving Private Ryan. There are numerous activities at the museum and in town all weekend. Events are at the airport with miliatary aircraft, rides in vintage planes, dances, dinners, reinactments as well as a military vehicle parade on Saturday. The parade will start near the VFW Post in Toccoa and go through town ending at the museum. Trucks, Jeeps and what not need to be at the starting point by 9:30 AM Sat October 2, 2010. It is specifically a military themed parade and they would welcome your involvement if you can bring a vehicle. If you need information or to enter the parade you can call the Curahee Military Museum in Toccoa, GA.

Guys this is a very interesting event. I took my M813 for the dedication of the Museum a couple years ago. There is lots to see in the Museum and the activities at the airport are great. When we were there a lot of old soldiers that trained there and fought in the war were at the Motel we were in. It sent chills down my spine just listening to their stories. I got to shake hands with several of them. We were talking to one guy and said something about him being a Hero. He said oh no, I am no hero, I lived there. See that guy over there, he landed in my yard when he jumped and I gave him an apple. He said they kept track of the American advance on radios they had hidden. He also said some Germans stopped by their yard to rest and he asked them if they had seen the Americans. His reply was no Son, we see only fire and steel.

I can't make it this weekend but I highly recommend it and hope some of you can go.

If anyone going could keep their eyes out for some M37 R2 crash truck stuff. I would really appreciate it. Also get their contact info for me. I am looking for all the inside parts right now. Pumps brackets, etc.
Thanks

Ron is correct, they were very surprized about the big trucks. I think mine was the only one in the Parade and they were extremly pleased I was there. Parade had four or five jeeps.

Jimma - I live in a box basically during the week and wish pre-hand knowledge this event was taking place.

We are headed to Lake Lanier for camping this weekend otherwise if I would have known there would have been at least my wife's and I truck up there to partake.

This would have been a great event to go to ------:deadhorse::deadhorse:dang
