Where can I get longer cables that go between the amp and the control box's for the VIC 1 system?

I've gotten all my CX-4723 cables on ebay.

I guess I will need a MX-7777 also?

I highly recommend the MX-7777 to protect your gear. I just got mine off ebay for 9.00. Price can range upto $30 which is still pretty good. You will need a GRC based power cable to power up the MX-7777.
