VIN not located on data plate or under either fender on the chassis!

I've searched the site and found two/three typical places the VIN could be:

data plate
under left fender on chassis
under right fender on chassis

It's not located in either spot. I sanded down to the bare metal between what resembles a footmans loop and the suspension bracket about 2-3 inches from the bottom of the frame.

Any ideas?!!?

Do you have a title or SF-97 with the VIN on it? If yes, make a new data plate.

Alas I found it!!! Between the shock mount and "footmans loop" inside if the four rounded bolt heads under the driver's side fender!

That only took an hour of sanding!

What is the year of this truck via the VIN???

I bought this rascal from a private seller a week ago (M109a3) with only a Bill of Sale. Having scoured this site for hours I've found out a lot of information pertaining to the VIN. Some of it makes sense and some doesn't. First of all, my data plate is blank except for the registration number (4G6261) & NSN (2320-00-835-8515). I spent the better part of this morning locating the serial number (152624) on the truck. Question #1-How do I piece all this together to form my VIN? Question #2-How do I determine the year of manufacture? Question #3-How do I determine who made this truck? I was going to load it all to CARNAC's post until I saw he got fed-up with the amount of people asking for his expertise. Thank you all in advance for your input.

There are more numbers to your frame number. Look in front of and behind and make sure you have them all.

They didn't use a 17 digit vin like today's vehicles, it will be several digit's short. If your talking about coming up with your vin for registration, DMV agent had to inspect mine and issue a vin for their purposes. OOOOOhhh, just re read your post...... Sold without title!!!! Get ready for alot of headache! Most will tell you not to buy one without title unless using it as a parts truck. Good luck contact you local DMV.

There are several good threads about vin numbers, if I can find one I'll post a link!

If he is really in Georgia they don't do titles for the truck if it is that old. No biggie.

At some point GA may require titles. Makes more money for them. OK started requiring titles years ago.

Just remember, what worked yesterday may not work tomorrow.

Georgia will never require titles on older vehicles. They won't even issue titles for vehicles 1985 and older if you don't currently hold a title. Georgia has instigated a new taxing system on vehicles to "recoup" some revenue. (You pay a tax when you register ALL vehicles now)

I don't believe CARNAC is fed up with the amount of people asking for his expertise , he is fed up with people getting their information from him and not donating to his selected charity.
This is the next best way to decipher your vin.; Deciphering the codes: Kaiser-Jeep and AM ... - Military Trader

Mutiple threads started about closely related material rather than continued in the same thread. I have found out that this forum doesn't clean out material ever unlike some other unrelated forums. It keeps from loosing any valuable material that someone at some time may need no matter how long ago it was last brought up. And the more like material you can get in a thread the better the chance the next time someone else needs like info the will find it instead of having to look thru so many threads to piece it all together. It also cuts down on the amount of memory needed to sustain the site. (I doubt it's free)

I've also found that some of the moderators come acrossed as a little more course at times. Most of the time it's due to answering the same question over and over again, or correcting someone about things they feel they should know from reading the site rules, TM's, or not utilizing search first. But they are some of the most invaluable resourses on the site.

I thought I was not re-hashing previous posts by stating I couldn't find the frame numbers as stated in those previous posts. Apparently I was wrong. Either way, sorry for wasting everyone's time and this site's bandwidth by asking a question was wasn't clear. And I still don't know the year or who made the dang thing! There aren't any additional numbers near those I found. I do certainly appreciate the link to read up on the series of trucks, very interesting and I was able to deduce via the registration number that it was made somewhere before 1969 :???:

Take more paint off. The number will be there, unless it is on the passenger side. If it is then it should start with an "M"

On one truck I had to take about a foot of paint off before I finally found the number.
