VJ Day celebration Hillman, Mi. Saturday 8-8-09

Some members of the Michigan Museum of Military Transport Foundation Inc.
Will be driving their HMV's to Hillman, MI. this Saturday, where the trucks will be on display right in town.
We will be hosted by the Brush Creek Mill Museum in Hillman.

So if you aren't going to the MVPA convention this weekend, come on up to Northern Michigan. The parade starts at noon, plan on being on site before that.
Anyone wishing to be in the parade, line up is at 10:30.
(NOTE: parade route goes down a long steep hill, good brakes will be needed)
(if you let me know in advance of Saturday that you will be participating in the parade, you will receive extra notoriety)

This is a 3 day event for Hillman. (Fri. Sat. Sun.) Anyone with a MV wishing to make a weekend out of it , will be afforded free primitive camping at the secondary display site. and access to the nearby campground shower/restrooms.
Which also is a prime spot on the river for the Saturday night fireworks display.

Also on Display at the Brush Creek Mill will be a very impressive Vietnam era display, quite possibly one of the best traveling displays of it's kind.

Drop me a line if you are coming, as our host provides free food and refreshment for us, (an eaiser task when they know how many to provide for)

The Vietnam Equipment display is set up by LZ Arielle. It's VERY hands on for the kids (and anyone else that wants to feel the weight, again). Hillman VFW is very proud their village is one of the few that still celebrates "VJ" day.
