Weight rating for 5 tons

Does anyone know what the actual weight rating is for each axle on a M923A2?
The factory data plate states that the front is 9,390 and rear axles as 11,080 and 11,080 making total GVW 31,550. But we all know that the military way under rates things. What is the actual axle rating from the factory?
Thanks guys

I'm risk sounding like a smart-ass, (don't want too...), but ain't the Tag the official weight rating? That said- I agree- these are provin axles. I have carried 10 tons, 40,000# gross, a few times. "Pumpkins" stayed cool.

You might crawl under the vehicle and look for a tag on the axle...

Generally speaking - the weight is classed as "off road" weight.
The M923 is designed to transport a 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) cargo load over hills and dales :) meaning that over the highway, you can double that weight.

You can't exceed over 34,000lbs on the rear axles combined and over 13,000lbs on the front axle. All you need to know.

So take the empty truck weight on the drive axles and on the front axle and subtract each axle from 34 or 13 and that will give you the actual road capacity

923a2 is 22,320 total with 12,460 on the rear and 9,860 on the front on a scale, stock.

Giving you 21,540 on the drives you are allowed and 3,140 on the steer.

Steer axle weight starts around the spare tire area so nothing in the bed can go towards the steer weight

Personally, I'm more concerned with my tires than axles when I haul stuff. My truck , empty, also once weighed 22,222 lbs with fr. winch and 1/2 tank fuel. Ten (short) tons in bed just works... !

That was what I was thinking as well, but I doubt Wes got it wrong.

They are a 44k bogey BUT legally [per bridge formula] you can not have more than 34k per tandem. 42 in a tridem

5 ton wheels are only rated around 9400lbs each too

I don't meant to imply anything shady or anything in this real world of public-sharing-roads vehicles, but this thread rather reminds me of a certain final startrek episode with scott in it or to quote this particular discussion between scott and la forge;
"The tank can't handle that much pressure."
"Where'd you get that idea?"
"It's in the impulse specifications."
"Regulation 42/15: 'Pressure Variances in IRC Tank Storage'?"
"Right."
"Oh, that. Forget it. I wrote it!"

and soon scott mentioned why he 'wrote it!' in this particular case with "A good engineer is always a wee bit conservative, at least on paper."

Are you just curious about how much the truck will stand ? Or the on road legal capacity of the truck ? To which CMV enforcement will go by what each tire is rated for but not to exceed 12/20/34 k but if you stay out of weigh stations i doubt no one will never inquire what you weigh and rock quarrys wont let you leave if your to heavy if you are hauling a load of gravel ect.

Years ago, I was brokering some 5-ton axle sets to an exporter, they were going to Asia. Seems they were rebuilding old G744 rigs with extended frames, supporting 20 cubic yard boxes to haul gravel.

I guess that answers your question about what they will stand. In that capacity tho, I'd suppose the driving style would be the most deciding factor in the service life of the units.
