Well the HMMWV didnt make the trip to the beach this year...

Too much to overcome in 3 months. Plus steep learning curve. The TMs are helpful by diagnosing problems vs just buying the next fix was too expensive for a route to success.

In the end i had 2 problems left to overcome that were deal breakers for this year. Radiator overheating and black smoke and no power almost stopping up 10* inclines on pavement.

Diagnosis pointed at the TDM, which did not fix the overheating. Next ill put the temp switch in boiling water. (It passed the TM suppliment troubleshooting guide for working).

Did the first steps on PMing the fuel system...changed and bled the replaced fuel, checked fuel coming through filter, then replaced fuel filter. (Also did not fix). Several guys with HMMWVs out here. Older trucks and one completely redone with a fasser engine.

Here's my punchlist. Added about 10 things as we got close.

And some pics of the truck in prep. My shop is not built yet so quarters were cramped and outside work was done in 100* eith the heat index for humidty last week.

Also, my tow vehicle on the beach.

You can simply unplug the Cadillac valve to see if the fan not coming on is your problem, that will force the fan to run continuously

Also you can unplug one of the leads to the thermal switch, that should also force the fan to run, That will test the cadillac valve and TDM, if it runs all the time with one lead unplugged on the thermal switch but will not run when the engine gets to the point it starts to actually over heat (230deg) then the thermal switch in bad.
