What is this bracket for?

What is this bracket used for on the M35A2? It is the one between the stack guard and the passengers side door.

It holds one of the legs for the ring mount (Machine gun mount).

If I'm looking at the right bracket, that's for the front leg for the machine gun ring mount. The other two legs mount on the two semi'circle brackets on the rear of the truck's cab.
Hope this is correct.
