I measured the axle nut flat to flat as 3 3/8 inch.
However I could only find a socket size of 3 1/2 inch. Will this work, or is there a 3 3/8 inch socket out there some place?

Any help would be appreciated,
Bruce

Is it a 6 point or an 8 point? OTC makes a 3-3/8" 8 point. It is their #1924.

Thanks Bill, but that is way to pricy for a wheel nut socket which are typically
in the 18 to 24 dollar range.

I agree, that price is way up there, but McMaster Carr is really proud of their products. It is a 1" drive impact socket, the only other one I could come across quickly was a 3/4" drive thin walled socket that was going for over the price of the 1"!

You may be able to modify a 3-1/2" socket with some shim stock to get the job done. I have done this in the past as well. Some 1/16" steel plate pieces (or heavy gauge material) and you are all set.

firefox, you should be able to get the OTC from your local NAPA. If you cannot find one locally, PM me.
I'll check tomorrow to see if I have one on the shelf and PM you the price.
