wheel cylinders

I pulled out two NOS wheel cylinders from my parts stash today. I know m37 cylinders are either left or right. One of mine is marked with a big "L". The other one just has numbers. I'm afraid to "assume" that this one is for the right side. You know what happens when we assume!

I don't see any difference in the two. Just what IS the difference in the left and right wheel cylinders??

The wheel cylinder is a stepped bore 1 1/4" front shoe, 1 3/8" rear shoe.
