Does anyone know where to buy a new starter for mep-003a for cheap or is it better to have the old one rebuilt?

I see some on the big "E" from $120- $175, I would have my original rebuilt if was cost effective.

Just be aware you get what you pay for with those $100 starters, they are nowhere near as well built as the military ones.

I have had 1 of those $100.00 starters for 6 years now on my MEP-003a no issues.

You can always try "Delks" 1-336-629-0991 . They have a ton of used parts for all the MEP's . Sometimes they are a little pricey so if you can find the item on eBay that's the way I would go.

Also, upgrade to the type II (gear reduced) starter if yours did not already use one. They are directly interchangeable. The ones from Southern Automotive (U.S.A mfg) are good.
