SS members,
I was asked a good question by a new member, Scott, which diesel engine is best?
The short answer is either an LDT-465-1C or a 1-D.
The long answer is "L" is for liquid cooled, "D" is for diesel, and "T" is for turbo.
The 1-C has a 60 amp alternator and a flame heater for cold weather starting.
The 1-D has an improved head gasket and pistons.
The 1-C is known as a "whistler" because of the high pitched whine from the turbo, and is prefered by many because it sounds great!
Either diesel engine will provide a long service life, if the rpm's are kept within specifications!
A copy of the operators manual is available for downloading from this Forum.
