Hi there,

7 days into ownership of my 1970 Kaiser M35A2.

I'm trying to locate the TM for draining the crankcase oil. I've searched, read, downloaded the TM's from the resources section and searched again.

Could you point me to it?

Thanks much.

The Lube Order LO 9-2320-209-12-1 covers the lubrication checks and quantities.

I have not seen any instructions on how to drain the oil. I'm sure they are somewhere.

There are two plugs to remove on the bottom of the oil pan. BE PREPARED for alot of oil, over 5 gallons. I use a tub I bought at Lowes for mixing small batches of concrete. Short enough to get under the engine and big enough to hold all the oil.

Also, when and if you change the oil filters, make sure the truck sits overnight as there is 1 gallon of oil in the cans and WILL make a big mess. Ask me how I know....

Warthog - Thanks for the warning.

Robo - I hope today has been better to you. I ordered my filters from Erik's Military Supply so I figure I've got the real deal. I'll double check though.

DieselBob - Nice call.

Everybody else - Below are links to the two technical manuals mentioned

Open the rear drain plug first with a five gallon bucket below it. When it stops running out, open the front one. When both have stopped running, put the plugs back in! Then change the oil filters - or better yet, put on of the spin on kits on if you haven't already. THEN, put the fresh oil in through the cap on the top. Start it, let it warm up, then shut it down and check the level - adjust as needed.

two drain plugs.

I used two 5 gallon buckets at the same time to drain the two oil sumps.
Pretty cool that those can fit under there no problem without even jacking up the truck. I did not start my truck for about 5 days before the oil filter change, so that made that part easy. I wanted that as much old oil as possible to have worked it's way back down to the sump so I could get it out of there.
Wait till you spend sometime under the truck and keep finding more and more grease fittings to be lubed.
