will a tailgate from an '81 fit a '77

Subject says it all. JC Whitney sent a new catalog which has a tailgate for a 1977 but the website says it's not availible. The '81 and up is. Any differences? Will it fit?

FYI

I sent the $$ for the dash yesterday. Take your time getting it to me. I had my back fused together on Monday and can't work on the trucks for a while...

Latch on an `81 tailgate will probably be different than the latch on a `77. Also, the sheet metal will be different so it won't look the same.
