WWII Ammo Wagon Identification

Greetings:

The Ringling bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus acquired several surplus 'ammo carriers/trailers' that were converted into small cage wagons (see attached pix.). I have searched several sites and have not been able to find any two axle WWII trailers. Perhaps this was part of the conversion by RB&BB? Can anyone help me with the identification of the original WWII chassis? We are restoring one of the wagons for a circus museum and would like to have the info. for the historical description of the wagon. Many thanks for yur support.
