I'm thinking I'll keep all my trans related posts in one thread from now on to keep the forum clean.
I pulled the old rear main today, dropped the flywheel at the shop to have it resurfaced, and ordered new flywheel bolts from mcmaster. Had to drill four holes in the old rear main before it popped out. I wiped the surface of the crank off with a shop towel and felt around with my finger and I can't feel any grooves or any uneven spots. There are a couple of dark lines from where the old seal was seated, but that's all.
Can I just pop the new seal in or should I polish the surface first? I heard you're supposed to fill the seal with grease before you install it. Good idea?
