Zig zag vs delta for generator hookup

I have a MEP 018. After chasing through the schematic (I'm a retired industrial electrician) I discovered that the single phase output is a center tap delta arrangement.

I'm not familiar with the properties of the zig zag configuration . Since this is a 12 lead generator I can eliminate the switch and configure it any way I want.

Is it worth the trouble to reconfigure it as a zig zag?

I personally prefer the double delta since this allows for 100% load without any de-rating, especially since you got 12 leads and provides a good balance

I have a 004 and I retapped it to a low zigzag and have been able to pull the rated current
