how bad would ten seconds submersion at rare times had been for conventional (air-cooled open shell type) alternator providing it was a rural source with relatively clear water?

not looking to literally try ford anything but this is more of in name of crossing a small active river thats like the profile of a short but deep ditch

I’ve had a few off-road rigs that the alternator spent almost as much time under water and mud as out of it. Yes I went through and rebuilt a few, but don’t ever remember distinctively killing one just because of submersion.
