I found this old M809 in some truck yard today while out doin some stuff.

When I was in the army the 5 tons were long gone but guys told me they used to have them. I see they put jakes on afterwards when they bought a butt load from the Americans (when we had a division is Germany in the 70-80's) and cut a hole and riveted a nose scoop.

Obviously it was auctioned off at one time and some civilian use was found with it by the paint scheme.

Relics of the past :)

Kamloops Past

How is Kamloops this fine February? I was real close last fall so if I make it over the hill before summer, I could use a tour guide.

I just grabbed these photo's of a 5 ton and now I'm wondering if this one had the same engine as the one you found. Wheeling around the back woods of Kamloops in a 5 ton would be a blast.

.....and speaking of a blast from the past. Kamloops is high on my Radar for Civil Defence related history and we'd like to photo document what's left and lock down a few stories of the military folks that called it home.

Recognize this spot?

For those not familiar with that part of B.C., here is a little more info on Kamloops and Mount Lolo military history. http://www.kamloopsnews.ca/news/rea...ry-behind-that-old-mcnair-park-sign-1.1225003

K-town is alright, Raining...

That particular 5 ton wrecker is sitting in front of 1 SVC BN in Edmonton. I was stationed to that unit many moons ago.

Yes CFS kamloops is gone, although they filmed that movie "Cadence" there haha back in 1990. The last search radar is sitting in a park here in town as a monument.
