You won't find an off the shelf solution. You can definitely DIY one though, I just did that on an 002 a couple months back. Here is an older thread with info, and below are photos of my particular finished product.
MEP-002/003 Fuel Filter Upgrade
I recall seeing a thread (and I think a SS member used to make a kit) to remove the OEM canisters and get an upgraded filtration system in place. Anyone help me recollect what I read? Thanks

I have not, but because those remote heads can be mounted anywhere you are only limited by your imagination, as to where you can mount then. You will need to source a couple new fuel lines, but if you are set on this upgrade, that shouldnt dissuade you.

For anyone thinking about converting their 002/003, 004/005 to spin-on filters, I know lots of guys use the Wix 24770 fuel filter mount, add bushings and fabricate a mounting bracket to hold everything in place.
At the suggestion of a slightly frustrated fellow SS member, ( frustrated about the time and work associated with the typical filter conversion )
I have prototyped a simple drop-in filter mount that will mount using the original 3 mounting bolts of the existing canisters, use the original mounting hardware and uses the original angle fittings with no bushings, plugs or adapters or mounting plates needed.
This means no extra parts to buy or fabricate and a very simple installation.
You would be able to either keep or remove the original water separator, then simply unbolt the original filter canisters, swap over the 2 90* fittings on each housing and reattach the new adapter using the original bolts and original lines.
You can then use almost ANY fuel filters with 1-14 thread that you choose.
This will not only greatly simplify the installation, it will keep everything safely tucked inside the frame and out of harms way.
It will also eliminate I believe 6 threaded joints and their potential for leaks, or worse, the potential for a split housing from overtightening a fitting!
I am planning to have the first CNC machined aluminum parts available in a week or 2.
At that point I will have a better idea of price. I know the price per adapter will be higher than the Wix 24770 but you will not need to buy or fabricate anything else, other than to buy the filter elements of your choice.
I have a few days before I receive the material to start fabrication, so any thoughts, suggestions or other ideas for added features anyone would like to see implemented, please feel free to reply.

Me too! Been thinking about doing the conversion on my 4 gensets but due to still having some OEM filters plus the time and cost of converting them I've been putting that conversion off. Your design solution sounds great.

I ordered the first set of Ray70’s adapters. I opted to install 3 adapters on a one to one switch out including the water separator. The adapters are machined aluminum with the same thread for the fuel lines as the originals. The fuel line connections are marked with an in and out stamp to make sure the fuel lines are installed in the right places. The adapters are drilled and tapped to be installed on the existing frame rail. Installing these adapters is quick and easy. No additional fittings are required to connect the fuel lines and the filters fit within the same footprint of the originals. This is a big plus especially if your generator has the sound attenuated enclosure like mine.
I spoke to Ray about his spin on oil filter as well. I already had a commercially available adapter. Since I had not installed it, Ray suggested I try one of his adapter studs as they had more threads into the block than the one supplied with the original. I went with his suggestion and installed the spin on oil filter adapter as well.
If you are tired of the stock filters contact member Ray70 you won’t be disappointed.
