so I got my new (used) light switch from Alex today, popped it on, everything works now EXCEPT the brake lights. Alex had warned the brake light switch could also have burned up, he said that's not uncommon. Well, we located the brake light switch (we're pretty darn sure that's what it was, on the lower cylinder (what I'm assuming is the air assist unit)), popped the two wire plug off of it, and with our light switch set to both stop light and service drive, tried to jump the wires together. Neither one activated the brake lights.
My question is- what's the deal? What else should I check in the stop light circuit? Should I attempt to replace the hydraulic switch or is that a total bear?
I have a strange feeling the brake light switch might have contributed to my light switch burning up, so with the brake light switch disconnected should I have to worry about the light switch burning up again, or is that whole circuit dead with the brake light switch disconnected?
Is there anything else I could be missing? We'll pop the multimeter out tomorrow and check whether those wires to the switch are even getting power, but is there anything easy to look for before trying to track this gremlin down?
thanks as always!
