Considering it’s about time for first fire I figured I could make a thread about it.

Picked up a 998 with a blown motor

Did the thing

Went back and forth on what I wanted to drop in, wasn’t interested in any of the usual suspects so I picked up this

Then did this

Took that and put it here

Made it fancy

Did other stuff

Finishing this and that, then I can put some fuel in it and set it on fire….i mean fire it up

Looks pretty interesting. How did you mate the engine to the tranny?

Can’t wait to see how this turns out.

Please consider purchasing new tires. 😉

I'm interested in what low end torque that motor has to get these pigs moving.

What are the specs on that engine? gear ratios of the trans? not like that V12 would have any issues with RPM ;)
It’s a 336ci V12 with a pair of K24 turbos hanging off the sides. Engine is unopened but the turbos have been upgraded and the ECU is flashed so it will see around 600-650hp and around 800tq. The Merc V12s don’t really rev to the moon they are designed to move huge luxury cars so they are built for grunt down low.

Stock configuration they make 590 ft lbs at around 1800rpms and i’ve turned the wick up on mine. They push around huge luxury sedans so this lump of aluminum and fiberglass won’t even make it breathe hard.

To be honest it looks almost as hard to work on in the Hummer than it must have been in the original car. Very cool idea and looks well done. Good luck it sounds to me like you thought this thru. Loved the simplistic explanations too gave me a good laugh that was sorely needed.

I wrench on a 2016 Macan and I love the technology of these German motors but damn they can be hard to work on without a lot of disassembly of other stuff just to get at what you want to fix.

Obviously that is more than enough torque at a lower rpm. How many speeds is the tranny andObviously that is more than enough torque at a lower rpm. How many speeds is the tranny and do you happen to know the stock converter stall speed? I love the initiative. What's the rpm limit of that motor. Hopefully the portals will hang in there. I someone that shoved a chevy 350 and 700R4 into a 89 Mazda B2600 and have a 93 Mercury Cougar 5.0 with nitrous, A 27 speaker, 3 amp audio system and a Thunderbird Supercoupe 5 speed tranny that never came with that configuration so I am very much with you in this experiment my friend.

It’s actually a delight to work on in the V compared to the regular place they live. Can sit in the engine bay with it as opposed to the normal 10 lbs of sht in a 5 lb bag trying to wrench on the 12s.

5 speed trans, stall is 2000ish id guess

I’ll spin it to about 6000 and call it good
