M5 engines removal

well we finally got to remove the engines of the M5 , still got lots of work ahead, but finally they are out, here are some pictures

Wow. Does SECO still have crate Caddy engines? That would solve some problems . . .

How was jockeying around the engines in there to pull them out? Was looking at the TMs when i rebuilt the carbs on one and that process did not look fun...

Its not to bad cut most of the head of the bolts, once you remove everything around then they come out easy..

That twisting procedure looked like quite the song and dance to get them both out. Going to attempt to rebuild what was in there or going to find replacement engines for it? Also notice that the little joe is still in place. Shame so much water got to it!

We going to try to repower it with 2 6.2 diesel and turbo 400, we still need to remove more stuff including the APU and clean maybe sand blast iside and repaint and then do the marc up , afert a few measurements the the diesel power plants should fit more to follow

If I remember correctly, The Stuart sat for years outside a resturant in Palm Bch to which when Fred went to recover it he found about 2ft of standing rain water sitting in it.

Ok finally everything has being removed from the inside exept main transmission, and a few conectors, will start pressure cleaning follow by sandblast primer in the inside here are some pictures more to follow

Ever think of using 2 4bt cummins? small, compact, pretty cheap and probably makes as much power as those caddy's lol

Yes but defenetly not cheap never seen one for less than $2500, never seen one less than $2500 running condition, plus you would need the adaptor for the TB400 and trany, i think what we have on mind with the 6.2 diesels from a CUCV is the best way but i did mention the 4BT would be nice, i think even the 6.2 diesel make more power than does CADDY flat heads

That tank was so nice when it arrived in FL. 25 years full of water definately takes a toll.

Its all clean and all the interior gutted , planing on sand blast primer near future
