M747 destroyed by crooks

This is what someone did to my trailer just before Christmas. They cut the whole front off with a cutting torch. I think I know who did it, just have to prove it.

This would take a little more planning than the kids cutting off cats in the WallyWorld parking lot.

Any tracks from a large truck leading away? Maybe they tried to drive off with the whole thing, couldn't move it, couldn't release it, cut it to make a getaway?!?

My best guess is for scrap metal. They also got chains, binders, blocks and the lid to the storage compartment. I worked hard this summer to completely restore this trailer with new tires and wheels, paint, wiring and lights. I had it ready to go. Now I will have to get someone to build a new upper deck so I can haul
equipment with it.

The people that I think did this own trucks and trailers and the equipment to cut metal. The owner's son just got out of jail a few weeks ago for stealing and is on drugs. I think they may have backed a van trailer up to it and cut it so it would fall right in the trailer. That would have blocked the view from the road. There is only one way out of there and the convenience store at the main road has video that will show what vehicles came out of there that day.

Did you check local scrap yards maybe you can find the stolen parts

I searched the scrap yards within 30 miles for two days. I even offered to buy it back if they had it so they wouldn't lose any money, no luck. I did find a witness that saw a van next to my trailer with cutting torch and tanks out there on the afternoon of Dec. 23.

Good luck!!! As far as the theft part goes, they destroyed the whole trailer! That should be Grand Theft! Big Time. Lots of folks would say that even if you found the pieces, You shouldn't repair it there! Again, Good Luck!

I know what I would want to do. Rather than that, instead do this:

Get the photographic proof from the convenience store. Get the witness. Get the cops, by all means. Also, if it turns out it was the son using his dad's equipment, you can get the dad to side with you by threatening legal action against the dad's company for using his equipment for criminal purposes. Threaten the dad's wallet, and you might be able to prosecute the son all the quicker. THAT IS, IF the son is the culprit.

Good thing it wasn't my trailer . You don't know what I would've done by now. I didn't get my screen name by being forgiving.

It makes me sick that someone would be so mean to do this, but I was having a problem with the kingpin height being at 62 " and my fifthwheel height at 48". I was trying have an adapter made with another fifth wheel and a kingpin plate I bought from maddawg 308. It was due to be ready 3 weeks ago and the guy never started on it. Now I will have to spend about $5000 to have an upperdeck built to be able to use the trailer. When you get lemons, try to make lemonaid if you can.

This beats all I've ever seen and makes me boiling mad. Nail their butt to the wall if you find them.

It can be fixed and be DOT legal but it will still never be "right" again. At least now you can just lower the neck to your needed 5th wheel height.
