Looks great guys. I have to say though, working with those big chains and stuff can be taxing in the heat. Was that Jason drenched in sweat? Oh, you can upload 10 pics on each post. I was hoping to see pics of the 101 being loaded with the 936 from the deck of the truck though
Why didn't I think of that? Tim and Pam came to the rescue for sure. There were no loading docks nearby and the excavator blew a hose. Barely limped it back into the yard. 100 deg heat and wrecker chains dont mix well. Just remember. The bigger the truck the bigger and heavier the tools are that go with them. this isn't your grandpa's CCKW any longer. That M936A2 is for sale BTW. Make offer. :)

Jason, you stole my thunder Sir. The weight is exactly why I limit myself to the very lightweight deuces. No way my M108 will do what those 5 tonners will do but it suits my aching lower back just fine.

Let me add that this whole topic of making a phone call and having a big wrecker standing by is unheard of in any areas of life except the OD disease. Folks pay hundreds of dollars for loadouts like that and this bunch does it just for the fellowship and stick time.

I was just wondering what happens when they go over the scales. When my 816 was delivered the driver said that he had to put the front tires up on the goose neck to balance the weight. It would be hard for them to move it with the trailer behind.

Awesome photos! So how do you get the wrecker off the trailer when you get it home if I was to get one of these...Right after the divorce papers were served by my wife?

Nice work! These machines are amazing. Ours has never disappointed us in what it will do, but owning one of these trucks amplifies your need to use good safety practices and common sense.
I saw one thing in the military trailer loading picture that bothered me from a safety stand point. I could not see where there was any provision for preventing the lifting chain from moving through the hoist hook. If this is not done by means of a double wrap around the hook, or better yet in a large shackle on the hook, the load can get off balance, in this case, to the front or rear of the military trailer, especially during a swing maneuver, causing the chain to run through the hook, allowing the load to drop one end and possibly hurt it or worse yet someone.
We had one case where even a double wrap chain came out of the hook with an engine in a container on the hook, dropping it a foot or so to the ground. Amazing how fast gravity works! My son and I had our back turned to the load at the time, heard and felt the thump as it hit the ground, and together made the pact to never again lift heavy loads with only the chain in the hook. we use a large shackle in the hook and double wrap the chain in it. To this day we have no idea how it did this, but it could have proven fatal under the right circumstances.

M543A2 has a good point for fellow members to pay attention to when rigging items to be lifted.

Tim, you still did a great job load the M939s wrecker, you defiantly had the right tools and help for the job. Congrats on anther load out done right.

Good point Marti. I had plenty of loads shift on me from not shackling the chains together. I know better, being lazy I guess, no excuses. Thanks for pointing that out to our members.

You can also use an other chain and put hook on each side of the hook. That way you can find the balance point . Was thought that by and old sargent at recovery school .
