We are expecting a big snowstorm in the Denver area for the next two days. It started snowing down here in Franktown, CO (30 miles SE of Denver) which is at 6700" and will normally get twice as much as downtown Denver. It started snowing here on Thursday at 4PM. I had been given a entire set of 11x20 tire chains for a truck tractor and decided to put them on and try them out in the upcoming storm. I’ll send some after pictures later tomorrow. Looking for 18-24" down here. If they don't plow the roads right away like normal I plan on laying tracks so those in the neighborhood with 4x4's can get around or out of the neighborhood. I have a new respect for those truckers who travel on I-70 in the Rockies west of here who have to chain up. Those dually chains weigh close to 90 lbs and not the easiest or quickest thing to do.

:ditto:I would call your local concrete place and get an ecology block.. They are 3500-4500lbs and are cheap I think I paid $90 for mine. have them drop that thing right in front of that plate and chain it down. YOU WILL GO ANYWHERE. Or just ask if you can rent a block.. It will help trust me.

We are not allowed to use chains or studs in Michigan but then again we have not really had any snow this year :-x I am not pleased with the lack of snow

All the roads in the neighborhood are dirt so there isn't any problem with chain bans. Wish I had an easy way to out some weight on the 5th wheel but this should be a good experiment.

You will like the chains. They are the best answer for really bad conditions, both mud and snow where you can use them. Like you said though, they are a pain to put on! We put them on our dump truck and M715 last year. The joining clips on one set wanted to hit the springs on the dump, so we only used the set that did not. Even with one axle missing the chains, it went really well.

I'm gonna have to pull my chains out and figure out how they go on. I've had them for years and never figured it out.

Marti, I did see that there was not a whole lot of clearance around the suspension so I had my wife drive it at idle, 1st low range, and watch for interference and it was close but no contact. I then drove it around the block, retightened them and backed it in where you see it in the last picture within extension cord reach for the block heater. Looking forward to see what it will do. Even with the radial Good Years on it, doesn't do to well on any type of grade when just a few inches of snow on the ground. One thing very apparent, on dry dirt roads you can feel EVERY cross chain hit the road. Very noticeable hop at 15 MPH. I'm sure in a foot of snow that will change. Might be over kill chaining both rears but should be fun.

The last 2' plus snow we had I made tracks down our dirt road with the Deuce. When I came back there was a skid steer , a tow truck and three pickup trucks stuck in my tracks. I had to pull them all out to get back to the house.aua
