I just spent $750 for a M127 good paint, new tires and a poor deck, not terrible but poor. A couple of the planks are starting to turn up and twist at the very front of the trailer over the king pin, I know a diesel and motor oil saturation will preserve the wood but will it bring it back? Any other tricks short of pulling and replacing?

That wood looks about like how mine does. I have had zero problems using my trailer with the wood like that. If you're wanting it to be perfect, I'd change it out. If you're going to be using it occasionally, I'd leave it alone for now.

What's over all length on a 127 trailer attached to 818? Front to back overall? Is it under 40'? Needing to ship one from a member and need length to tell a broker, hoping to fit one load.

On the front of the trailer the boards have separated enough the metal divider has fallen through! The trailer is 30 feet long, I think my 818 is longer than 10feet even without a winch?

My other 127 has large D rings for tie down this on has the small loop that looks like a special tie down was used?

So anyone using anything other than a diesel and motor oil mix to treat their decking? I am thinking about pressure washing mine first and them hosing it down with the diesel/oil mix. Some one once told me if you saturate the wood with water then heated it while applying pressure you could straighten the planking? This planking seems to be shrinking, does the mix help restore/swell the planking?

Thank you for posting these pictures. They are very helpful for me building a scratch-built M127 on 1:35 scale. gr Frans NL

Steam is used to bend boards for boats. I remember the boards being placed in a sealed box and the steam was added. The box was slightly pressurized by the steam. I forget how long the boards needed to be steamed before shaping.
