thx a lot carnac [thumbzup]
my m101a2 was from the 17th signal batallion corps delta at the 2007 closed larson barracks in kitzingen, bavaria south germany. a friend who is serving in the army at grafenwoehr told me, that he knows the larson barrack`s because he went there with is dad jears ago. great.
i can see my trailer at larson ba by useing the timeline button in google eath
:cookoo:but cool!
i tryed several hours to find the correct bumper code for the trailer.
after the overhauling in kaiserslautern 2009 the m101a2 was not in use,
so the area for the bumper no. is empty.
is anybody able to help generate the correct bumper code, for driver and passenger side?
maybe: I-17S-D-10 for the 10th vehicle? army corps? armed corps? I? II? III?

i am very sad that i can`t find anything about the former location/duty of my beloved cucv.
is it possible to get more information by useing the uic?
i can`t decrypt the whole code. what i find out is that
w = us army
aa = multi component parent unit
dj5?

as you can see in the pix...no bumper codes on my vehicles :-(

thx again,
the donate will be made.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17th_Signal_Battalion_(United_States) is the wiki info on the unit. It says it was a V Corps asset so it would be V 17S or I've also seen it as V 17SIG and on the other side D-??. The ?? is the admin number which is determined by the unit.

Can't help yuou on the UIC. You are correct in the W is Army but AA means a "parent unit". I highly suspect this UIC was for a independent company, platoon, or special team (note not implying special forces). I have no resources that have that UIC in it. Probably a long inactivated unit. You could potentially contact the Army Department of Heraldry and they might be able to tell you.

Good luck.

Hello Carnac,

I am still deployed to Afghanistan so I have only the GSA information and the frame number AN/ARC186 (Dan) got for me.

a. Serial Number:052518525 (from the frame)
b. Registration Number:041390971 (best guess/3rd party info)
c. NSN without dashes 2320000771616 or 2320009260873 (not sure if A2 or A2C)
d. Where you bought it: GSA, Snohomish County, WA Fire Department on 2/23/12
e. Bumper numbers: unknown

From GSA listing:
Year: 1971
Make: Am General
Model: M35a2
Vin: AB90971052518525
Mileage: 21735

Dan sent me this:

"The frame number is 052518525, data plate number is 041390971"

Thanks CARNAC, its been a three year wait but I finally got one!

Carnac:

What you're doing is fantastic! Here's one for you. My VIN on the dash of my M1009 is different from the one on the door plate. I'll give both where I have them.

I bought this unit from a former Marine near Fayetteville, NC. (Smithfield, NC).

Manufacture date, 7-85 (door plate)

VIN (dash): 1G8ED18J2FF209222
VIN (door plate): 1G8ED18J3FF202554

STOCK NUMBER, on original door plate: 23200112343655. This number is partially X'd out and is not totally legible. Too many digits?
STOCK NUMBER, on aluminum label riveted to door post: 2320010907835

REGISTRATION NUMBER, on original door plate: illegible
REGISTRATION NUMBER, on aluminum label riveted to door post: CU39RP

No bumper numbers.

Can you do anything with this?

Thanks,

UH, Not hardly. You're not only barking up the wrong tree, you're in the wrong forest. That is not the way a UIC works. It is random not designating of a unit.
