My Gen 2 light had a faint glow to it and could see it at night. When I would turn on the headlights or the fan it would get brighter.

So I went ahead and replaced all the belts- same problem. I was pulling all the connections and cleaning them off and applying dielectric grease when I saw the exciter wires. MAN! There's your problem!

So I went ahead and ordered a pair from CUCV electric and swapped them out. Now the problem is fixed and everything is back in harmony. The ones CUCV electric sent me were great quality and a lot better made than the "parts house" replacements.

Just thought I would share!

i just did this last sunday..It didnt fix my problem i need to rebuild my alt but yea my old connector looked just like yours.. some bare crimps and heatshrink did the job good. yea the one i got from napa feels crappy and the terminals are loose think i might cut that one off and go to CUCV electric

I was tracking down charging issues which turned out to be bad connections on my GEN lights but mine look the same as yours. Time to make my first order with CUCV Electric. "Yes, keep my credit card and address on file"

One of my alternators is still charging alittle on the high side around 15v. I forget which one. I hope that it is because of my connector looking fried. If not, I will need to look further into it. Too busy installing my lift kit right now

I have replaced them just because the old ones looked like they may not be so good, not as bad as the OP.

I used the ones from the auto parts store and had to trim the plastic slightly, from what I gather you did not have to do that with the ones from CUCV Electric?

No, not at all. They were 100% plug and play! All I did was dielectric grease the connections, crimp them on, plug it in and let 'er rip!

They look like it, but I just want to be sure, so I can check mine too.

You win the stuffed bunny!!! Yes, that is correct. My Gen light "bugs" were fixed with these connectors. You can see how bad mine were though. Remember that these trucks are 25+ years old. As everyone always says: "If it's rubber, replace it. If it's electrical, clean it" (and put dielectric grease on it ).
