I've got a nice Bridgeport about that size with DRO. I know just enough about it to tear stuff up.
If nothing else they make a heck of a nice drill press. :)

All I seem to do with my lathe is eat tools. I suspect it's operator error.

Nice looking mill. A few servo's, linear scales......CNC. I paid my way through college on a J head Bridgeport. You can make ANYTHING with a vertical mill....and then some (that is until you break a tap off in your exactly located hole and then need to EDM it out.....anyone done that?)

Thanks for posting.....an item to add to the "must have in the long run" list.

Nice mill. Gorton made good solid stuff.

Do you know which spindle taper it has? Model number of the mill would be a starting place - but may not be the ending place in figuring it out - since some mills were made with more than one spindle taper. Nailing this down will save you some frustration in getting native collets for it.

Now comes the real money to be spent; tooling. Lots and lots of tooling.

Having a mill opens a lot of options for fabricating parts in the home shop. You'll never be sorry you've added it.

Pretty sure its a GMT taper. The seller made an adapter for R-8s and included a bunch of them. From what I've read the stock collets only go up to 1/2inch.

You wouldn't want the "drill press". its an old barn beam style that I put a treadmill motor on so I could have infinate speeds. I think another buddy has laid claim on it, I will let you know if not.

Those wheels will be removed for transport. I don't wanna drive for two hours watching this thing shift back and forth! I'm even thinking about running some all thread through the trailer deck to make sure it stays put.

Can't you use the castor wheels to get it home? You must have a tow bar that will clamp on to the mill.

What is phase 3? I missed phase 1 and 2...
