Also This truck is a Mack truck; however, I was shown a picture that is shown bellow of this same truck with the cummings. The front grill is way different then mine, why is this. Mine is flat straight across unlike the picture were the cummings mimics the duece. I was told this truck was a 1963.
Not quite the same, the one shown is a m819, with the cummins motor, a bit heavier then your m246a1, the m819 has a longer nose because of the cummins, other then that SAME, the -10 in the back shows what is in the BII and where it goes, the m246a1 and the m819 have the same BII, so if you can not find what you are looking for in the 211-10, try the 260-10

Oh and I need a Box for the boom control and the cover plats.
You mean where the HYD controls go, how about a pic of the area it is supposed to go, If it is, should not be to hard to make, or find a m62/m246 that is being parted, (everything on the m246 crane body is the same as a m62 except the boom length)

The 246A1 looks nice. I might could be talked into owning that 5 tons as long as I don't have to drive it! LOL.

Yea it can be a little scary as I was informed that the MACK power steering was different from the Cummings power steering. However i think I have it down now, it drives like a 76 Cadillac with a worn out steering box. You have to steer left to right in moderation to go in a straight line.

Also I will get some pictures but as you can tell I am missing the hole box that covers the operators booth. Also the control cover, seat, and pretty much all i have is the controls.

Do you know anyone that has any parts that i need to complete this truck I would be thankful.

Check and make sure the steering box bolts are tight. Mine did the same thing and they were loose. I am gonna say you should second think putting the box on the operator's bucket. I thought I wanted one, till I got in Doghead's truck. Now I am glad that I have an open seat.

The enclosed operators station is hotter than heck. For Florida better off with the gondola for shade. I'd bet Jim Henry or John Winslow would have a parts wrecker with the hydraulics cover on it. I know its a little different but I took pieces of plywood and covered and padded it and bolted it to the base and back. Works great but I used the cotton duck shelter half for material and the FL sun promptly consumed it. Better off with boat vinyl.

Thank you, that is what I started to think that it would be better but I didn't want to be Scrutinized for having something custom on this old girl

I did not want the cab when I got the 819, thought it looked like crap and more military without, the 246 we had in VN never did have a cab

I have the boom support poles you need, both the short ones and the long ones. The only bad thing about the long ones is that they are rusted together, but maybe a good soaking with oil and some beating and they will come apart. The short ones are o.k. I'll let them go for their scrap value.

My long boom supports were stuck together, but then I anchored them and used the boom to pull it apart. Worked pretty good.

i like to stand while running the boom so a cab hard top is very far out of the question. the canvas shade canopy is of interest to me though. might not be if i had dimensions for it.
