Has any one had experience in this area? Particular individual I should be talking to at Government Liquidators? Issue: I have paid invoice made arrangements with local shipper to claim truck with release signed forms etc etc. Low & behold before I can get there to pick it up from shipper I see my truck on the auction same V.I.N. and so on PANIC!!!! $10k GONE wth? Call shipper I don't think I have ever gotten your paperwork?
Post contact sorry your truck was marked abandoned. Government Liquidators you'll have to file a claim. So I now have three days before the auction with my paid for truck on it. Claim reply when filed it could take 14 days to resolve 6 days past auction and truck is still up for sale WTH?
Should I have called shipper to confirm it was picked up? YES Should I have called Ft Riley and asked if it had been picked up ?YES No excuses I dropped the ball on following up... I have 8 trucks across the country I have bought and never had an issue prior to this with shippers not following thru with arrangements over the phone. Will I trust anyone again NO. But with that said if anyone has any suggestions or experience I am all EARS.... Thank you in advance

You may get some of your money back but the truck is gone.

You can rebid but trust me on this, it will be resold.

If I was losing ten grand because of an oversight and lived in Arizona I would be driving down to the GL office and talking to someone in person....just my 2 cents...

That's what I would do. Did the shipper have an appointment to pick up? Did you talk to the GL rep and tell them what was going on (getting shipped etc.)?

Unfortunately I did the good ol boy verbal with shipper over the phone like all the others in the past and even Government Liquidators rep at post said I deal with this shipper all the time "He's Good" When I called and let them know it was ssetup..
Well if I am in business to make money and someones paperwork doesn't show up or "I dont have it" You can bet I am calling and asking you still want me to do this job right? Except I don't have your paperwork................YA THINK?

I'm not so sure you'll be so lucky as to only pay the default fee.

Section 9: ABANDONED PROPERTY (top)
A schedule for removal of property will be established for each sale. You must remove all property awarded within this time limit. If for any reason removal cannot be completed within the time period, it is your responsibility to arrange with our site manager for an extension of time. We are not responsible for property that is not removed within the time allotted. If property is not removed within the specified removal period or scheduled for removal at a later date with our site manager, we will consider the property to be abandoned by you, and you will have abandoned all right, title and interest in the property including the purchase price of the property. We are not required to send abandonment or late removal letters to you prior to exercising the right of abandonment.

How is it all his fault? He called a wrecker service to pick up the truck and gave them all the necessary info. The wrecker service dropped the ball by never going to pick it up. Shouldn't they be responsible for the lose?

It's his fault, because it's his money lost. Protect yourself...

Key info, when was the deadline, when was the truck scheduled to be picked up, when did you check and find out it never happened, and when did you contact GL about all this??

To me this would be the same as calling up a wrecker service to tow your broke down car from the side of the highway. And they don't and your car gets impounded. The who is at fault for the fee's? You paid them to provide a service, they failed to provide that service and in doing so you incurred a monetary loss.

Question to the OP, did you pay them up front?

Sounds to me that the wrecker did not show up when he should have and when he got there it was already in process of being sold again. And at that he did not call the guy to tell him what was up. Yeah he should have called the day after to make sure it was picked up.

Would you wait 2 weeks, to see if they towed your car off the road?

The tow service said they NEVER got the paper work, so if that is true, why go pick it up, a simple call the next day to the tow service asking "did you get what I sent" would mean that he NOW has a truck and did not make a GIFT to GL for 10K
